






Malaysian’s golden era of the film industry has often been proclaimed from the year of 1950s to the late 1960s. Tan Sri Teuku Zakaria bin Teuku Nyak Puteh (22 March 1929-29 May 1973), better known by his stage name P.Ramlee was a Malaysian film actor, director, singer, songwriter, scriptwriter, musician, composer, and producer according to (Alyssa Lee, August 2018). He is one of the iconic entertainment artists that stands out during the golden era of the film industry and helped form history in Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, and Indonesia.
Most of his films are classical humor that can be accepted by all ages. Hashimah Yon an actress and a friend of P.Ramlee stated “He was visionary. He is 10-20 years ahead of the time” He wrote and sung over 250 songs and was involved in 66 films throughout his career
P.Ramlee films in Malaysia can be described as a unique form of film expression. Granted, most of P.Ramlee’s film delivers messages about the unity of peoples because he understands the social of our peoples at that time. His songs, lyrics, and movies have connected with not only Malays but including Indians and Chinese. Until these days’ people still listen to his music and watching his films.

About this Project
There have been ups and downs when creating this project. It has been a challenge an honour for the author herself to collecting more information about P.Ramlee and illustrating it in a friendly manner for our generations.
The author also went into deep research and even interviewing the young generation about P.Ramlee. Effort should be done to uplifting P.Ramlee culture because who else will do it if not us?
